Between Responsibilities and Families.

"The right thing to do and the hard thing to do is usually the same" -Steve Maraboli

Two heroes, both held the burden of great responsibility. Hector refused to yield, and went to fulfill his responsibility. The other one, Aeneas abandoned it and carried a greater one. Two women, both wives to both heroes shared their own responsibilities. Both beg for their husbands to abandon everything, abandon everyone and abandon the war. Andromache, the wife of the former, was refused and left alone while Creusa, the wife of the latter was accepted. Both wives wanted the same thing, for their husbands to be safe, for the sake of their son, and for their future. But to Hector and Aeneas, responsibility is everything and giving it up is hard. Really it is, but Aeneas abandoned it for many reasons, he submitted to his wife's "selfishness" maybe for his own selfishness too.

To a hero, to a soldier, to a man, responsibilities are priority. He may be the one to establish to himself or to his country but a wife's greatest responsibility is family. Family comes first before one's master. Hector and Aeneas, though both chose different paths, no matter the outcome was, will always be a hero.

A Name Worth Knowing

"Great achievement is usually born of great sacrifice, and is never the result of selfishness" - Napoleon Hill

To be able to find their sacred land, Aeneas suffered a lot. To be able to found the new Rome, to provide his fellow men a place worth living, he sacrificed a lot. But through it all, he was able to pull himself together and fulfill their destiny. Choosing to hold on and not to lose it all proved that he was a hero from the start. Determination overcomes the fear and cowardice he had, Aeneas was still a human, after all. He never had an easy life. He lost so many. But losing something taught him to be strong. It taught him to fight for what really is his, and for a great reason. Sacrificing taught him how cruel life is, that nothing is free, nothing is easy. Although his mother is a goddess, he suffered like the others. And then the things that he learned made him who he was when he founded the great Rome.

Experience is the best teacher in life after all. Mistakes are not there for us to cry, to regret, to lose hope and lose ourselves in the process. Its purpose why it was placed in our path is to teach us to fight and to be a better person in the future. Same goes for Aeneas, a name really worth knowing.

Everything Changes

I was on the Greek's side at first, not until I read the Trojan War. Thinking that the Trojans at first, are nothing but brutal and savage people, only relying on the fact that the Roman gods and goddesses they worshiped cared for the power only, I loved and idolizes the Greeks. Then I came to the part of the book where an apple caused a war to erupt between the Greeks and Trojans.

I pitied the Trojans right then and there. A mistake made by Paris brought them to many sufferings, like the Trojan war. Both sides were known for their skills in combat, but what could they do? They were attacked in the middle of the night by the enemies. Aeneas and his family escaped, and for that I was relieved.

Having read the part where Aeneas found Rome, I was pleased. At last, after all those hardships that they faced because of the bitter goddess, they were able to find their own happiness and freedom. Saying that losing so many men is worth the new land is not the statement. It is really a great loss for him, but nothing could change the past, and nothing can changed the future as well, not even the gods and goddesses.

An Enigmatic Artwork

"Mona Lisa" . A painting so priceless that it is well protected and taken care of. Made by Leonardo da Vinci in the late 1503-1506. The reason for its fame and popularity is the smile of the lady in the portrait. Not only that. It traveled a lot from the time it was created, stolen and retrieved. Many have tried to explain the smile but each came up with different explanations.
Some says that it was a self portrait of da Vinci.Out of the analysis I've read, the fact that the lady in the portrait is Lisa Gherardini appeals me the most. They said that the title of the painting came from the word Madonna Lisa. "Mona" was contracted from "Madonna" that's why it became Mona Lisa. According to the articles, the reason why Mona Lisa's enigmatic smile is because of the entertainers that were hired by da Vinci to entertain the lady while painting her. Some says that her smile was cause by some kind of malfunctioning in her cheek muscles. It was scanned thoroughly but up 'till now, no one knows the true meaning behind the famous painting.
It is truly a wonderful painting. Not only because of its price, but also the feelings da Vinci held that time when he painted the portrait. Against all odds, it remained enigmatic, ethereal, most visited and parodied work of art in the world.

A Piece Worth Remembering

I was walking down the bustling street of Germany, currently on my way to a trusted music shop called Bonn's Music. It was a fine day, really. I was rushing, eager to get my hands on the piece I'm going to play in the International Music Competition in Munich two days from now. I was planning of playing Tritesse of Chopin but my views changed. Things as well as my fate changed the moment I lifted my gaze from my watch and shifted to an enigmatic person standing beside me, who was waiting as well for the traffic light turn red. He was standing beside me, his gaze fixed on my destination; Bonn's Music. He wore such a sad face that my heart clenched for the man. He was obviously staring at the grand piano located inside the shop, sitting just in front of the glass window. His mouth opened, struggling to say something but closed it immediately. I tried my hardest to ignore him. To calm myself down, I glanced at him. Everything slowed down from then. Cold sweat rolled from my forehead. My blood drained. Adrenaline surged through my veins and I was able to pull the man I was observing from harms way.
"Geez, Mister! You scared me. The lights are still green," I scolded.
The anger left immediately when he looked at me and smiled, loneliness evident on his face. I helped him cross the streets.I turned to proceed on my way when he called me.
"Young lady, will you please accompany me for an afternoon tea. A token of my thanks?" he asked as he pointed on a cafe beside the music shop.
I couldn't say no. No, i will not refuse, not to an old soul like him. So I gladly accepted the offer. We sat there quietly. Enjoying the scent of pastries, tea and coffee.
"My name is Kristel, a music student. And you are?" I asked. I cannot stand the eerie silence that was surrounding us.
"I cannot hear you," he smiled sadly. "My hearing was taken from me. I am Ludwig Van Beethoven, a pianist."
"Oh, so that's why he was staring at the piano," I mused to myself.
I frowned. If he is a pianist, and he is deaf, then...
He seem to grasp what I was thinking and smiled sadly, again. We sat there for a moment of silence.
"I'm afraid I must go," I said. I rose from my seat and he did so, a true gentleman he is. "Thank you"
I gave him a warm smile. Judging from his expression, he understood what I said. I waved him goodbye and proceeded to the music shop beside the cafe. I picked up piece I'm going to play and went to the music hall in town, where I got a ticket for a piano recital of a famous pianist. I remembered the old man, the one named Beethoven.
Minutes later, I saw the music hall and entered. I gave the ticket to the man guarding the door and he waved me inside. Good thing my seat is in front of the stage. As I was settling down. I remembered what's written on my ticket. Ludwig Van Beethoven.
"He's going to play?" I murmured.
Sure enough, the recital started and the curtains lifted. There, he sat lonely at piano at the middle of the stage. He played a piece that seem to be his 9th Symphony. His music is amazing that after his premiere, the hall erupted into loud claps and cheer. I was one of them. But he remained seated. I saw someone approached him and helped him stood up and face us.
The moment he saw us, cheering for him, congratulating him and clapping for him, his eyes was filled with big fat tears. I remembered. He can't hear it. He can't hear his own music anymore. Soon, my cheeks were kissed by an identical tear. And there at the music hall, I wept for the man in front of me. A man whose  identity was robbed by his illness.

When A Student Committed A Sin

Every time a person commits a sin, a corresponding punishment will be given. Each punishment is based from the weight of the sin. They will be judge by the one who possess the power. Same goes for the students. We commits sins and for every sin comes the punishment from the higher-ups such as our teachers, guidance counselors, principals/chairman. Sins like dishonesty, egoism, bullying, carelessness, arrogance, vandalism, cheating, and laziness(apathy) are the most common of all.
Dishonesty of a student will result to misunderstandings and lies. The punishment will be given by his/her own conscience. For every lies the student made, the conscience will become heavier as the time pass. Egoism or exaggerated self-importance. Under this are those students who are selfish. The punishment will be given by the classmates of the student. He/she will lose their so-called friends. Bullying a classmate might result to trouble. The punishment given will be based from the case itself. If bullying cause some serious injuries, the guidance counselor might give the student a suspension. If it is not so heavy, the classmates might inch away from the bullies. Carelessness will cause many loss. As a result, the confiscators will confiscate those thing you lose. Arrogance's punishment is same as those of the bullying and egoism. Vandalism is the act of defacing school properties. The punishment will be given by the guidance counselor. This may result to suspension.Cheating in test or quiz will be punished by the student's conscience. If caught, the teachers will scold him/her and might lose their trust. If known by the other student, they might back stab the cheater. If cheating is applied in the test proper, he/she might be suspended. Laziness and apathy can make a huge difference on the student's academic result. As a result, a low grade will be obtained.
